When Busch's Fresh Food Market transformed a former retail space into its new Canton flagship location, the goal was to create more than a grocery store—it was to deliver a destination that combined exceptional fresh foods with an inviting, community-focused shopping experience. The renovated store was praised by customers for its bright, modern design, expansive fresh departments, specialty offerings, and welcoming atmosphere from the day it opened.
In 2019, Food City partnered with Shaw/PPC Design to help redefine the in-store customer experience across its supermarket portfolio. The objective was to create a modern, welcoming environment that celebrated fresh food, reinforced the company's brand identity, and delivered a consistent customer experience while allowing each store to reflect the character of its local community. The new design language has since become the standard for newly constructed and renovated Food City locations throughout the chain.
For more than a decade, Shaw PPC Design partnered with Better Health Markets to support the company's expansion throughout Michigan by designing, engineering, manufacturing, and installing branded interior environments that transformed traditional health food stores into engaging retail destinations. As Better Health expanded into larger-format markets featuring organic grocery, prepared foods, cafés, produce, frozen foods, vitamins, wellness products, and specialty departments, each location required an environment that reflected the company's mission of making healthier living approachable, educational, and enjoyable.
Fresh by Brookshire's reimagines the neighborhood grocery store as a culinary destination—combining premium fresh foods, chef-inspired dining, and hospitality-driven design into an immersive shopping experience. Located in Fate, Texas, the 66,000-square-foot flagship market was designed to serve as more than a grocery store by creating a place where guests can shop, dine, gather, and connect with the local community. The store features multiple specialty food venues, expansive fresh departments, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and community-focused amenities that elevate the everyday grocery experience.
